Police in Inverness are appealing for information after damage was caused to a house after lit fireworks were forced through a letterbox.
The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday at an address in the King Street area of the city.
Considerable damage was caused to several rooms inside of the house as well as personal items belonging to the occupants.
Nobody was injured.
Personnel from Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended at the property during the incident.
Inspector Murdo Macleod said: “This is an utterly reckless act which has caused significant damage to the inside of this property, though there was the potential for other serious consequences.
“Misuse of fireworks is very dangerous and it is fortunate that nobody was injured during this incident – the outcome could have been far worse.
“Our inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
