Ullapool has received international recognition after creating their festive Christmas tree out of fishing creels.
The 16ft spectacle was created using 332 fishing creels and took more than 1,000 hours of volunteering to create.
Hundreds of local people turned out to see the lights turned on during their official switch on during Thursday.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling praised the town’s unusual choice of festive decoration to her 13 million social media followers. She said: “How beautiful is this? Ullapool, a coastal town in Scotland, has a Christmas tree made of creels, with a crab on top.”
Robert Hicks, one of the organisers for this years festive lights, said: “We are extremely humbled. It is something that is there for all to enjoy and is free for everyone to see.”
