An Inverness business has raised more than £4,000 for a charity which provides meals to students in some of the world’s poorest places.
TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Org UK chose Mary’s Meals as their 2017 charity to raise their profile and much needed funds as they undertake new projects, such as recent engagement with children in war-torn Aleppo in Syria.
The company collected more than £1,500 in donations from customers purchasing teaching English as a foreign language courses and matched each donation.
Several members of the team also completed the Loch Ness Marathon in October, raising a further £700.
Mary’s Meals representative Bridget Gordon said: “We’re grateful for TEFL Org UK’s generosity. With it costing just £13.90 to feed a child for the year the money raised will go a long way.”
TEFL Org UK managing director Jennifer Mackenzie said: “I’m delighted that we have so successfully raised money for Mary’s Meals in 2017. To hear from Bridget the difference this will make to the lives of so many children and their families makes it so worthwhile.”
She added that the company will this year be fundraising for ActionAid.
