Dog owners can take advantage of a free drop-in event to improve pet security in the north.
The UK’s largest dog welfare charity has teamed up with Highland Council to offer microchipping events in Inverness and Nairn.
Next Monday, from noon to 4pm, owners and their four-legged friends are invited to come along to Barn Church on Culloden House Avenue to meet Dogs Trust representatives and council staff who will micro-chip dogs for free.
There will also be a free basic health check for your pooch, health and training advice information leaflets and free collar ID tags.
On the Tuesday, the same team will be at the Links Car Park in Nairn from 10.30am until 1.30pm.
Councillor Allan Henderson said: “The council commends the work of the Dogs Trust and we would encourage as many people as possible to bring their dogs along an as well as getting them microchipped pick up some top tips for keeping them in the best of health.
“As a council we promote dog owners to be responsible for their pets and this includes making sure they are micro-chipped. Not only is it the law now to do so but it gives pet owners the reassurance that should their pet become lost or be stolen, he or she is more likely to be returned to them safe and sound.”
