Police in Inverness are appealing for information following reports of a man running a bogus caller scam in the city.
The man was reported to have been in the Aird Avenue area of the Highland capital around 12.30pm on March 31.
The man is described as being around 6ft tall and of slim build with ginger hair. At the time he was wearing a beige jacket and jeans.
The scam involved local residents being contacted by phone by a caller claiming to represent their bank, saying that a suspicious transaction had been stopped.
Detective Sergeant Michael Lach said: “Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would ask anyone who saw a man matching this description on or around Aird Avenue last weekend to contact us.
“It’s important to remember that a genuine caller from your bank would not request personal details over the phone and would ask you to withdraw cash or to transfer money to another account.
“While these callers can be very convincing, if someone has cold called claiming to be from your bank it is often best to politely end the call and phone back on a number you’ve sourced yourself. You could also seek advice by visiting your local branch.
“You can pass on any information by calling police in Inverness on 101.”
