A sum of cash worth around £500 has been stolen from the home of a pensioner in Inverness.
Police are appealing for information after an unidentified man stole a sum of cash from the victim – who is in her 90s – after gaining entry to her home in the Haugh Road area of the city.
The incident happened at around 6pm yesterday evening.
The man is described as being up to 5ft 8in tall and between 50 to 60-years-old. He has dark hair and was wearing dark jeans and a dark top.
Inspector Alex Chisholm said: “This is a truly despicable crime inflicted on a vulnerable elderly woman.
“Behaviour like this cannot be accepted and our enquiries are ongoing to identify this man.
“I would urge anyone who believes they have seen this man or who saw something suspicious in the area yesterday evening to get in touch as soon as possible.”
