Plans have been submitted for what could be a new Costa Coffee drive-through facility in Inverness.
Aberdeen UK Property Fund has submitted proposals for the outlet at Inshes Retail Park on the site of the former Blockbuster video store, between McDonald’s and B&M Bargains.
The plans show that there will be a restaurant, outdoor seating and parking at the premises.
Consent for this type of operation has already been granted under a previous application for retail warehouses at the site.
A design statement submitted with the plans reads: “The net effect of the proposal is the creation of a light, air and modern environment which respects the prevalent local palette of materials, and is complimentary to the massing of adjacent developments.
“The proposal will complete the existing high quality development and enhance the facilities currently available in the local area.”
A Costa spokeswoman said: “As the UK’s favourite coffee shop brand and one of the success stories on the UK high street, we work closely with planning departments across the country to open new stores for the benefit of their local communities, creating new jobs and providing attractive and popular social meeting places.
“We are currently evaluating opportunities in the Inverness area, but have no firm plans in place at this stage.”
