Efforts to place an Inverness man in the back of a police van resulted in an officer being kicked in the face, the city court heard yesterday.
Shaun Stewart, of Cypress Place, admitted police assault on the city’s High Street on April 15 last year and sentence was deferred last month for a background report.
Stewart re-appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday and was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
The 22-year-old, who admitted previous convictions, was also placed under social work supervision for 18 months.
The court heard the officer sustained swelling and reddening to his ear as a result.
