A popular tourist attraction in Inverness is reaching new heights after welcoming 50,000 visitors in less than two years.
Inverness Castle Viewpoint, which opened its doors to the public in April last year, welcomed its 50,000th visitor earlier this week, marking the first big milestone occasion for the city centre monument.
To honour the occasion, Alison Steele, from Stafford, was welcomed to the city centre attraction with a bouquet of flowers and a bag of goodies by Andrea Finlayson of High Life Highland.
Mrs Finlayson, High Life Highland, said: “Mrs Steele arrived just after noon with her husband Richard to enjoy the spectacular 360 degree views from the Viewing Platform, and were surprised to be welcomed with a bouquet of flowers. Mrs Steele and her husband were on their first visit to the Highland capital, though they frequently holiday in the Highlands. They are looking forward to the rest of their time in Inverness, exploring the sites and attractions.”
Provost and Leader of Inverness and Area councillor Helen Carmichael added: “I am very pleased the number of visitors coming through the doors clearly shows that the viewpoint is becoming a must-see attraction for visitors to Inverness, underlining its importance for tourism in our city.
“This benefits the city’s economy by giving visitors a reason to stay longer, therefore spending more time in and around businesses across the city. This is a great early indicator of how popular the Castle could be as a visitor attraction bringing people to the area and benefitting the wider Highlands.”
