A north police officer was found to be a staggering seven times over the legal drink drive limit when turning up for a shift earlier this month.
The 50-year-old female was reported by fellow officers before being arrested and detained at police headquarters in Inverness.
Superintendent Craig Blackhall said: “A serving officer was arrested on October 1 on alleged road traffic offences. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, and they are due to appear at court at a later date.”
The female officer is said to have produced a sample of breath containing 155 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is just 22 micrograms.
The police officer has since been reported to prosecutors at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).
A Crown Office spokesman said: “The Procurator Fiscal has received a report in relation to a 50-year-old woman in connection with an alleged incident on 1 October 2018.
“The report remains under consideration.”
