Police in Inverness are appealing for information after a man was left with serious head injuries after being assaulted in the city centre.
The incident happened around 3.30am on Sunday, close to the Farm and Household Stores building in the Millburn Road area of the city.
A 21-year-old man was walking from the city centre with two other people when they were approached by two further unidentified men before this disturbance.
The victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries to his head which required treatment at Raigmore Hospital as a result of a the incident.
Sergeant Stuart Fitzpatrick said: “We are appealing for information following this apparently unprovoked incident.
“We would ask anyone who was in the area around that time and believes they may have seen this disturbance or has information about those involved to get in touch.
