Police are searching for tourist Kim Gordon after he disappeared from Monastery Beach in Carmel two days ago. The street vendor from Inverness was visiting America with his 17-year-old son. According to the son, Mr Gordon said he wanted to go for a swim at Monastery Beach around 7pm and went missing. Police dive team supervisor Michael Dalington told Kion5/46: “The son didn’t actually see his father go in the water. “We don’t have a witness that saw him go in so it’s kinda like a needle in a haystack.” Police became suspicious after quizzing Mr Gordon’s son twice and getting different stories about how the pair ended up in Monterey County. The Monterey County sheriff’s office says it believes the disappearance was faked. It is understood Mr Gordon’s son is now back in Scotland. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said “we are currently making inquiries”.
