A 47-year-old Inverness man who assaulted a door steward and a police sergeant after he was thrown out of a city bar was jailed for four months yesterday.
Ian Lindsay, of Union Street, appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted two charges of assault.
On June 29, he was thrown out of Wetherspoons’ The King’s Highway after being previously banned.
But Sheriff Gary Aitken was told that Lindsay became aggressive and punched one of the members of staff in the head.
Police were called and then Lindsay kicked a sergeant on the leg as he was being handcuffed.
Lindsay’s solicitor, Graham Mann, said: “He has a sizeable record and he was drunk. It was an ill-conceived attempt by him to try and get back in to the bar.”
