Jewellery and cash have been stolen in two break-ins in the same day from homes in the countryside near Inverness.
Police investigating the burglaries haven’t ruled out a possible link between them.
A house in the Garbole area near Tomatin was targeted some time between 8am and 4pm on Monday.
A number of items were stolen, including jewellery, electrical equipment and a small quantity of cash.
Another break-in was reported at a property near Daviot where entry was forced sometime between 10am and 8pm on Monday.
Jewellery and cash were taken from the house.
Police appealed for information about the thefts.
Detective sergeant Greig Fraser said: “There are similarities between these incidents but we are keeping an open mind about links between them at this early stage.
“However, we are interested in the description of any vehicles seen on the approaches to either of these rural locations on Monday
“Both of these properties are in rural areas and both break-ins happened during daylight hours.
“With that in mind I would urge other residents to be aware of these incidents and to make sure that they keep their properties locked and as secure as possible.
“I would also ask people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly the movement of any unknown vehicles around your home or a neighbouring property to us as promptly as they can.
“Our enquiries into these incidents are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information which could help to call 101.
“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
