Around 200 people ran down Inverness Airport’s runway to raise cash for their local Maggie’s Centre at the weekend.
Organisers last night revealed the Run the Runway event has raised around £35,000 to help cancer sufferers and their families.
Andrew Benjamin, the centre fundraising manager, said: “It was a brilliant turnout for our third year doing Run the Runway.
“People turned out in amazing fancy dress in horrible conditions and helped make another huge amount of money for the centre.
“We had Nuns on the Run and Pirates of the Caribbean turn up to raise another huge amount. The event has been held in better conditions over the last two years, and last year raised £46,000.
“So for people to turn out in the weather we had and raise so much money shows how much support there is in the Highlands for the centre.”
He added: “We have to also thank the airport staff, operators HIAL for giving us the opportunity to host this event, as well as airlines BA and EasyJet for their generosity in providing fantastic prizes for participants.
“We are now looking forward to next year.”
