Emergency services were called to a car fire on the A9 last night. The road was partially closed at layby 170 on the northbound stretch between Meallmore and Fort Augustus. Fire crews were deployed to the incident at around 10.22pm using hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. A spokeswoman for the Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call about a car on fire at 22.22pm “We sent two appliances from Inverness, they left the scene at 11.11pm.” A Police spokeswoman confirmed that they were on route to assist receiving a call at 10.39pm.
