Emergency services were called to a busy Inverness street after a pedestrian was knocked down.
The man was walking near DFS furniture store on Millburn Road when he was hit by a car shortly before 6pm.
The vehicle was heading towards the Raigmore Interchange when the crash occurred.
One witness said: “I was just walking down Millburn Road and was coming in front of KFC when I noticed the commotion across the road. I heard the screeches of cars coming to a stop and noticed a man slumped along the road.
“Bystanders, people at the bus stop, some people from the DFS store and myself went to make sure the man was okay. There was very little movement from him at first and it was obvious he had taken a bang to the head. We managed to get him up on his feet and off the road and then called the emergency services.”
Police and paramedics were called to the scene following initial reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called around 5.55pm to Millburn Road in Inverness to reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian. It’s understood the ambulance service are in attendance.”
