A teenage girl was injured after an apparent hit-and-run outside Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
It happened on Old Perth Road around 1.15pm on Saturday.
The 15-year-old was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Police are looking for any information about the car involved in the incident and are appealing for witnesses.
PC Steve Taylor, from the Dingwall road policing team, said: “We are all thankful that this incident didn’t lead to more serious injuries, however it is nonetheless serious given that the driver failed to stop.
“The car has been described as possibly being maroon or purple in colour and left the scene heading towards the town centre.
“I would ask anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the incident, or anyone that may have dashcam footage, to come forward and help trace the vehicle and person involved.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2073 of 7 December.
