Two pensioners were among the casualties taken to hospital after a fireball crash on the north’s most notorious road.
The two cars burst into flames after colliding on the A9 Perth to Inverness road just before 4pm on Saturday.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene, near Pitlochry, along with two ambulances, a rapid response unit and two fire crews amid fears one of the motorists was trapped in their burning vehicle.
However, by the time they arrived at the scene all three people – including two believed to be in their late 80s – had managed to free themselves.
One casualty suffered head injuries while another had cuts to their thigh. The third person had minor injuries. They are all taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
