A Bake Off star is heading to a north food and drink festival to herself put amateur bakers to the test by judging a cake-making contest.
Alice Fevronia, a finalist in the 2019 The Great British Bake Off, will visit Taste of Nairn, a three-day food and drink festival in the town that takes place between Friday, April 3 and Sunday, April 5.
The London-based geography teacher will act as judge in the event’s own showstopper contest.
Ms Fevronia said: “I have never been to the Highlands before, so I am really looking forward to exploring the town and celebrating the festival’s delicious food and drink.”
She will be among the event’s special guests on Saturday April 4 and as well as judging the showstopper competition will visit local businesses, give a baking demonstration and take part in a question and answer session.
Janis Maclean, Nairn BID’s manager, said: “The showstopper competition is open to all ages, but in true Bake Off style it has to have a theme, so naturally we are asking participants to theme their cake or bake on Nairn.
“To take part, all people have to do is drop their creation to the community centre by 10am on April 4 and these will be judged by Alice later in the day and the winner presented with a prize.”
This year’s Taste of Nairn includes a mini music festival with street food, a food and drink market, food-related street performances and a farmers’ market in the town centre.
