An Inverness councillor has praised the student nurses who handed in his wife’s missing purse.
Duncan Macpherson, a member for Inverness south, put out a plea on social media to help his wife Mary find the people who kindly returned her lost items.
Mrs Macpherson’s purse and make up bag were delivered to her doorstep after falling out of her rucksack while she was returning home from a long shift at Raigmore Hospital.
She is a nurse in the orthotics department for NHS Highland.
After a plea for information on Councillor Macpherson’s Facebook page, it transpired the good deed was done by three young students in the Inverness Campus student accommodation.
Councillor Macpherson wrote: “Big thanks to Crystal Galbraith and Hartlee Grant who found the items, and to Molly Smith for driving them to our home address. What heroes and heroines you are.”
He explained: “Walking home after work, Mary was unaware that her rucksack zip had opened and her purse, make-up bag and other contents had fallen out.
“She was only alerted to it outside Cradlehall Co-op shop, when a polite young boy stopped her to say, ‘excuse me, did you realise your bag is open?’.
“We retraced all her steps around the Inverness Campus, over the Golden Bridge and along the footpath at Raigmore Estate and around the hospital – however no joy!
“Returning home two hours later (after visiting hospital security, the UHI campus security and the police station on Burnett Road, where we phoned to cancel her bank card) we were amazed to find her purse and other contents from her bag had all been carefully placed on our doorstep.
“Mary was speechless and so delighted, there were tears of joy at this wonderful outcome.”
