Small Inverness catering firms have been donating meals to frontline NHS staff at Raigmore Hospital.
The businesses decided to help out after seeing a new Facebook page set up by furloughed Highland Council museum attendant Amanda Silva.
Ms Silva, who has a background in PR and marketing, formed the Inverness Delivery and Take-away site when she realised there was lack of clarity regarding which food businesses were still open – and which were doing takeaways and deliveries.
But she explained how it took on a more important role after a nurse got in touch.
She said: “We have so many eclectic food businesses in Inverness, some of them very small, and I want them all to be there when things return to normal. So I put the page up to support them.”
Ms Silva was soon contacted by Raigmore charge nurse Kay Cordiner asking if there were any businesses offering an NHS discount, as she wanted to treat her team out of her own pocket.
Ms Silva posted a request on the page and soon offers were coming in from a range of small business.
Before long the frontline workers were enjoying meals from outlets like Heavenly Deli, Kool Runnings, Spicy Spot, Tortilla Asesina and Little Italy.
Ms Silva said: “Kay has been looking after the deliveries and sending meals on to different wards like the children’s one as well to boost morale.”
