Passengers of one of the Highland’s busiest ferry routes are being advised that fares will resume on Monday.
Highland Council had suspended charges on the Corran Ferry in Lochaber during lockdown, but confirmed yesterday the new rates for 2020/21 will now be rolled out.
These include the 3% increase agreed last year by the council, which had been due to come in on April 1.
The council is instructing all users of the service to make sure that they follow all government advice on hygiene and social distancing, including wearing a face covering on public transport such as ferries.
Occupants in vehicles are being asked to make sure they wear a face covering for all interaction with staff and turn off the vehicles’ interior fan and wind down their vehicles window before staff approach.
Foot passengers too must make sure they wear face coverings when using the enclosed passenger area.
Payment by card is but if paying by cash, travellers are advised to have the correct amount ready. The new rates start at £8.80 for cars, motorhomes and minibuses up to 16 seats, motorcycles and trailers. Caravans are £11.60, while vans, lorries and other plant start at £13.80.
Pedal bikes and foot passengers go free. Books of tickets, and multi-ticket options are also available.
