An Inverness hotel operator yesterday cancelled bookings for Aberdeen guests.
The Kingsmills Hotel and its sister accommodation facility Ness Walk made the decision following advice issued by the Scottish Government.
Aberdonians with reservations in the next week have been asked to contact the hotels to reschedule their stay.
In a statement issued on social media, the hotels said: “Sadly, as a result of the decision taken by the Scottish Government today, we are unable to welcome guests travelling from the city of Aberdeen.
“This is in effect for seven days and will be reviewed.
“If you are from Aberdeen, with a reservation within the next seven days, please contact our reservations department to reschedule your visit.
“Many thanks for working with us to keep everyone safe.”
The hotels later clarified that the measure was only being implemented to those hailing from the city of Aberdeen and not the wider region of Aberdeenshire.
Meanwhile air and sea passengers booked to travel between Orkney, Shetland and Aberdeen are still being permitted despite the lockdown – but are advised to make their decision on the risk and guidance issued.
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “NorthLink Ferries and Loganair continue to provide lifeline connections as they have done throughout previous lockdown phases to maintain connectivity and operators will seek to inform all those travelling (both northbound and southbound) of the latest Scottish Government guidance on Aberdeen.
“As such it will be for those travelling to decide if they wish to still do so, given recently issued guidance.
“All transport modes have measures in place to protect passengers and staff from Covid-19 and, now more than ever, it is important that all guidance is followed in order to prevent its spread.”
People booked are being permitted to transit through Aberdeen, but should consider if their trip is essential or can be delayed
