Police in Inverness are appealing for information after a car was engulfed in flames in the early hours of the morning.
Residents on Kenneth Place in Smithton were awoken to a car on fire shortly after midnight.
Both police and fire personnel attended the scene at around 12.30am.
One fire crew from Inverness used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.
Now police are looking for information after a man was seen smashing a window of the Mercedes C Class, which was then seen to be engulfed in flames.
The man ran away towards Murray Road and got into a white estate car which drove away at speed.
He is described as five foot ten, slim build, fair hair and was carrying a white bag under his arm.
PC Lee Soley, of Inverness police, said “I’m keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the male in Kenneth Place, or anyone who may have seen the white estate car driving at speed in the area at the time of the fire.”
Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference NN/5235/20, or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
