A section of A96 between Nairn and Inverness was shut this afternoon due to a two-car crash.
Emergency services were called to the road beside West End Garage to help deal with the incident.
The fire service used pedal cutters to help free casualties that were within one of the cars.
The A96 in both directions was shut for about two hours with motorists advised to take an alternative route.
Police, fire and the ambulance service all attended the incident.
The extent of injuries is not known, although they are not thought to be life-threatening.
A fire spokeswoman said: “We were called out to the A96 at West End Service Station at 3.22pm.
“We used pedal cutters to free people from within one of the vehicles.
“We left the scene at 3.53pm.”
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called around 3.15pm on Saturday, 17 October, to a report of a two car crash on Inverness Road, Nairn.
“Officers, along with other emergency services, are currently at the scene and the road is blocked.”
