Image: DC Thomson. Firefighters have tackled a wildfire south of Inverness. Nearly 240 sq yards of heather and bushes at Daviot Wood was damaged in the incident. Crews were called out at around 2.40pm after reports of a wildfire off General Wade’s Road. Two appliances from the city went to the scene, along with an all-terrain Argocat vehicle. A fire service spokeswoman said that no buildings were threatened. She added that firefighters had damped down the flames using knapsack sprayers and beaters. They left the scene by around 4.30pm.
