The Invernessian is five-under-par after 12 holes and eight-under for the tournament, one shot clear of Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg. Overnight leader Rory McIlroy has found the going much tougher on day two, dropping two shots in his opening eight holes to slip back to five under. Defending champion Phil Mickelson is five shots behind Knox after failing to close the gap in his opening nine holes.
