A fire and rescue spokesman said the fire is still “well lit up” but that there was no “threat to life”. The fire started between Torness and Dores, at around 3.50pm on Friday and was said to be visible from several spots near the Highland loch. Eight fire appliances were called to tackle the blaze from Inverness, Forres, Dingwall, Beauly, Nairn, Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus. The spokesman added: “There’s a lot of people seeing it from all over. It will probably be burning all night. “Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit fire crews will stay on standby tonight and if we need to call in a helicopter for drops we will.”
