The first incident took place in Nairn at the junction of Lodgehill Road and Waverley Road at around 10.35am. An off-duty nurse went to help but no one was injured. The vehicles blocked the road for a short period. Just 10 minutes later, there was a similar crash in Wick. The incident involving a car and a van happened on the A99 Wick-Latheron road at its junction with Harrow Road at the old cemetery. Paramedics and police attended but neither driver was injured. Meanwhile, there were significant tailbacks for motorists in Inverness after a two car collision at a major junction. The incident happened on a slip road at the Raigmore Interchange at 1pm. No one was injured but traffic was backed up on roads in the surrounding area. The situation was exacerbated by the increased number of vehicles in the vicinity due to the Belladrum music festival at Kiltarlity. Traffic was also squeezed by roadworks on Inverness’s Millburn Road, which have closed one lane of the dual carriageway leading into the city centre.
