Highland Council leader Drew Hendry has hailed the response to the weather.
He said: “Highland Council and partners have acted swiftly to address the impact of the tail end of Hurricane Bertha throughout our area, particularly in Kingussie and East Ross.
“When businesses and homes are under threat this reinforces the importance of the council’s commitment to delivering major flood schemes like the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme.
“Yesterday we also offered assistance to Moray Council as part of a mutual arrangement as their region was severely affected by flooding.”
Councillor Graham MacKenzie, chair of community services, said: “Staff in community services and across the council responded quickly to the flooding and damage from fallen trees.
“I would like to thank them all for their hard work and swift response. Works are ongoing today to continue the clear up and I would urge motorists to heed road closure signs for their own safety and for the safety of our staff and to be aware of continued surface water on roads across the region.”
