A leading Scottish architect has died in Inverness, aged 85.
Professor Andy MacMillan died after collapsing on Saturday while visiting the city on behalf of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
He was working in his role as chairman of the Andrew Doolan Awards which judge Scotland’s best buildings.
Prof MacMillan served as vice-president at the Glasgow School of Art until his death, having studied at the school.
He was also head of the city’s Mackintosh School of Architecture between 1973 and 1994 and made his name for his modernist work on a number of churches across Scotland.
RIAS president, Iain Connelly said: “Andy was a great architect, an educator of international renown and one of the finest human beings it has been my privilege to know.
“His influence on generations of students at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and in the many other institutions where he taught, was immense. He will forever be missed.”
Prof MacMillan is survived by his wife Angela, their three daughters, their son and three grandchildren.
