A powerful 4×4 vehicle demolished a wall and a post box in a busy Inverness street.
The vehicle careered off the road and crashed into the wall, inches from a footpath this afternoon.
The collision happened just after noon, in Telford Street, opposite its junction with Dunain Road.
A blue Mitsubishi Outlander ended up with its front wheels resting on the remains of the wall, while the post box had been uprooted from its concrete base.
The car had only minor damage.
A red Toyota Yaris, and a black Vauxhall, which were also involved with the collision, also had minor damage.
Police spoke to the occupants of each car separately as they tried to establish what had happened.
A nearby resident said she had not heard what happened but was shocked to see the 4×4 so close to the footpath.
She said: “That could have been a bad one, a couple of feet and it would have taken out a bollard and maybe ended up going along the path and killing someone.
“Either that, or the driver would get a nasty one by crashing into the bollard.”
An ambulance was called as there were concerns for an occupant of one of the cars, but no treatment was required at the scene.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We were called out around 12.05pm and it was one of our crew that advised the police. No-one was injured and no-one required treatment.”
There was minor disruption for around two hours until the Mitsubishi was uplifted, and congestion briefly when the recovery vehicle arrived, with the road cleared just after 2pm.
