Police say “a knife or similar weapon” was used during an attack on an Inverness street at the weekend.
Police officers have stepped up patrols in the area following Saturday’s trouble.
A 48-year-old man needed hospital treatment after the incident in Oldtown Road in the Hilton area of the city of Saturday afternoon.
The man was released from Raigmore Hospital later the same day.
Police are following a positive line of inquiry into the incident.
The attack is believed to have happened in a paved area outside a block of flats in the busy residential area at around 4pm.
A police spokesman said yesterday that they believed the attack followed an incident involving anti-social behaviour by youths in the area.
The spokesman said the additional patrols were to prevent any further instances of anti-social behaviour in the Hilton area and to provide reassurance to residents.
Anybody with information about the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
