Firefighters from the village were called to the incident in Station Road just before 2pm. Contractors working in the garden of a house beside the Bridgend Filling Station noticed the smell of gas and alerted the forecourt staff. Customers at the petrol station were asked to leave and police closed the road for around 30 minutes while firefighters dealt with the incident. A police spokesman said that no one was injured.
