A bicycle which was being used by cancer patients in Inverness has been found after it was stolen – but police are still looking for the thief.
The mountain bike was taken two weeks ago from the garden of the Maggie’s Centre in the grounds of Raigmore Hospital, only three weeks after it was donated by a volunteer.
It was found abandoned by a member of the public near Duncraig Court on Saturday, and handed in to officers at Burnett Road Police Station.
The centre provides day relief to patients affected by cancer as well as their families.
The bike was regularly used by some patients to cycle to and from the cancer wards at Raigmore Hospital and to the Kyle Court accommodation unit.
One client even used the bike to keep up a fitness regime while undergoing treatment.
The person who donated the black Giant Boulder Shock, was said to be “deeply upset” and “horrified” by the fact someone would think to steal a bike from a place like Maggie’s.
It was stolen from the grounds of the centre over the weekend of August 15-18.
Anyone with information about the theft should contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at
