The 51-year-old sustained injuries to both arms during the attack and was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital. The incident, which happened at about 12pm, took place on the pavement on Sir Walter Scott Drive across the road from the Asda store. The dog, which is thought to be a Staffordshire bull terrier/American bulldog cross, was put down following the attack. The busy road was closed for about 30 minutes and the dog was controlled by police dog handlers until the vets arrived.
