A new beer festival which took place in Inverness at the weekend has been branded a “real success” by its organisers.
About 800 ale and music fans turned up to try out a range of craft beers and ciders at the North Hop event, which took place at the city’s Eden Court.
People came from as far away as America and Mongolia to sample the selection of more than 50 tipples from 10 different breweries.
Everyone had the chance to taste, with each brewery serving one third and two-thirds of a pint measures in case people did not like the beer, or wanted to drink less.
The event was open to over-18s only, and featured more than 20 exhibitions, 30 live music acts and included a cocktail lounge, artisan products and street food vendors from around Scotland.
Festival organiser Michelle Russell said: “The festival was great. It was a real success.
“The demographic ranged from early 20s up to people in their 60s and 70s and the hardcore beer drinking types, too.
“We even had a beer blogger who had come across from Arkansaw for the event, and he told us he was really enjoying the beer. There was also someone who had come all the way back from Mongolia just to be at the festival.
“All of the brewers were delighted and they were saying it was a totally different event from anything they had done before.
“What also made it a success was the fact that individual breweries were representing themselves and it meant that people could come up and chat to them.
“Collaboration between the breweries is something that’s happening more often now and potentially we see some more collaborations from this event.
“This means that followers of one beer can get introduced to another beer and the number of followers for both breweries is increased.
“The hope is that we can double the amount of breweries and double the amount of beers for next year.”
The event ran over Friday and Saturday.
