Traffic chaos has gripped Inverness with the start of an international piping competition coinciding with a city centre road closure.
A section of Bank Street, which had been opened during the summer tourist season, closed again on Monday to allow flood alleviation work to resume along the banks of the River Ness.
Meanwhile, The Northern Meeting, with hundreds of pipers competing at Eden Court Theatre, has attracted more traffic than normal to the area.
The worst affected streets are Glenurquhart Road, Tomnahurich Street, Mayfield Road, Culduthel Road and Castle Street, with congestion expected to continue throughout the day.
