However, the sighting near the Nairn Golf Course turned out to be a false alarm when all the coastguards could find were creel markers. Aberdeen Coastguard received the call around 8.15pm and sent out the Nairn coastguard team and a Findhorn rescue boat to check the water. A coastguard spokesman said the top of a creel marker can often be mistaken for a human head.
