A number of residential streets in Inverness were cordoned off and evacuated as bomb disposal units searched a city centre address. Officers also closed off Anderson Street, Nelson Street and Madras Street while carrying out a “pre-planned” operation. Working in tandem with army explosive ordnance disposal units, it is understood that police inquires were focused on an address in Anderson Court. Local resident David McGillvary, 41, said: “One of the boys that stays just down round the corner told us everything that was going on. “People have been told to go to the back of their houses because there are chemicals.” In addition to the army and police personnel who were in attendance at the scene, one fire appliance was called to assist at around 7.30 pm.
