It happened at 11.45pm last night, with firefighters from the city deployed to the A96 Inverness to Nairn road, near the Castle Stuart junction. They removed the windscreen of the car, allowing paramedics to treat the casualty before taking her to Raigmore Hospital. Her injuries were not as serious as first thought, and were classed as minor, non life-threatening, by medical staff. Police closed a section of the road, setting up local diversions, until just after 3am.
