Drivers have been invited to an event in Inverness which will explore the possibility of establishing a car club in the city.
Highland Council is working with Carplus, an Edinburgh-based not-for-profit organisation, to investigate the feasibility of setting one up.
Transport consultant, Richard Armitage, said that the concept allows cars to be shared between drivers in a safe and efficient manner.
He added: “A car club in Inverness could provide easy and affordable access to vehicles without the burden of costs associated with owning a vehicle.”
Ian Brown, leader of Highland Council, said: “We must investigate ways to enable people living here or visiting the Highland region to travel more sustainably.
“The public meeting will give people a chance to find out more about how shared transport can fit in with their lives.
“Please come along and ask any questions you may have, and at the same time share your expertise and local knowledge.”
The sessions will take place in Inverness Town House on Tuesday, between 1pm and 2.30pm, then from 6pm to 7.30pm.
