Campaigners will participate in a Europe-wide protest in Inverness city centre tomorrow.
Members of the 38 Group fear that a proposed agreement between the United States and European Union could leave the NHS open to competition from US-backed private health companies.
The EU and the US have been negotiating for the past year on the so-called Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), with hopes of a final agreement in 2015.
One of the organisers of tomorrow’s event, Conor Cheyne, claims that the legislation will mean that the UK government can be sued if its takes any action which would affect the profits of a private company.
He added: “The event in Inverness coincides with a Europe-wide day of action to increase pressure on the EU to fix or scrap the pact.”
It will take place in Inverness High Street at 11am.
