Two Gaelic-speaking police officers gave their verdict on the Mod, after travelling from the Western Isles to work in Inverness during the event.
President of the National Mod, John MacLeod said that the presence of sergeant George Murray and constable Donald MacLean had enhanced close relations between the police and the Gaelic community.
Sgt Murray said: “This year’s Mod has been a resounding success in every way. It’s been a privilege to attend and provide assistance where necessary; fortunately though, I can confirm we have had no serious incidents or trouble of any sort to deal with.
“The atmosphere has been absolutely magical; it’s been a pleasure to engage so positively with competitors and spectators of all ages. I look forward to welcoming the Mod back to the Highlands next year.”
And constable MacLean added: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Mod. From a policing viewpoint, we would like to extend praise to all organisers, competitors and spectators for working together to ensure this very special event passed with not a single incident.”
