Four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after an accident on the A96 this afternoon.
The trunk road was closed in one direction for around 45 minutes shortly after 1.30pm following a collision between two cars close to the Balloch junction.
A white Ford Fiesta and a black Volkswagen Passat were involved in the accident between Nairn and Inverness.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that four people were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.”
Fire crews sent to the incident were stood down as all four casualties made it out of the cars unaided.
The road was closed westbound for the vehicles to be recovered, with traffic diverted through Balloch and Culloden.
