A emergency department of Nairn Town and County Hospital will be temporarily closed overnight because of a staffing shortage. NHS Highland has asked patients who need to use this service between 8.30pm tonight and 8.30am tomorrow to travel to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. The hospital is also the local primary care emergency centre providing the out of hours service. People will still be able to call for an emergency out of hours service on 01667 452096 where they will be diverted to NHS 24. If a doctors appointment is required, NHS 24 will organise for an appointment at the Out of Hours Service in Raigmore Hospital. An NHS Highland spokesman said that the organisation apologised for the inconvenience caused.
