An ongoing operation to clear up a busy petrol station in Inverness after overnight flooding continues.
Fire and rescue crews have been deployed to Tesco superstore at Inshes, where a nearby burn has burst its banks, to make the scene safe and prevent further damage.
This resulted in the forecourt, and surrounding area, ending up under several feet of water, which overspilled into the store’s car park.
Meanwhile, the approach road to the adjacent retail park has been closed in both directions, with traffic being diverted along Sir Walter Scott drive to the roundabout junction at Inshes Road.
Workers from Highland Council assisted in the clear-up, as well as preventing further flooding by building a barrier of sandbags between the petrol station and the car park.
It is understood that the fuel tanks are not affected by the floods, and remain intact as they are sealed several feet below the ground.
A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We have been unable to use pumping equipment to clear the area as there is nowhere for the water to go, as the adjacent burn is too full.
“We will monitor the situation, and as soon as the water abates, we will be able to safely pump the flood water away later this afternoon.”
