Two fire appliances from Inverness and a specialist foam tender were dispatched to Tesco supermarket at Inverness Retail Park. The petrol station was closed off as a precaution, and firefighters were seen using water to cool the affected pump. However, a fire service spokeswoman said that the call-out had proved not to be as serious as first feared. She said: “We are standing by at the scene as smoke was seen coming from the pump. “However, there does not appear to be any sign of a fire.”
