Eight sheds in Inverness haved been broken into over the past two weeks, with a number of items such as power tools stolen.
Police have issued a warning after the spate of incidents in the Merkinch and Dalneigh areas of the city.
Chief Inspector Jennifer MacDonald said: “As we approach the festive period and visibilty is reduced, it is vital we secure our property, outbuildings and sheds at all times to ensure thieves are not given the opportunity they are looking for.
“Consider security lighting around your house and garden and look out for your neighbour’s property and buildings if they are away from home.
“I also recommend security marking any property with UV pen detailing your house number and postcode.
“Lastly, report any suspicious behaviour to police on 101 and encourage neighbours, friends and relatives to do the same.”
